My name is Naomi van Heemst and I am an illustrator and 2D animator based in the Netherlands. I love drawing characters, writing stories and experimenting with colors. I usually make work inspired by my own Caribbean cultural roots, but I also love Japanese woodblock prints, manga, poetry and hip hop, rap and salsa music that often form a silver lining throughout my art pieces.
My work is all about diversity, inclusivity and the celebration of black excellence! I aspire to create worlds and design characters that anyone can see a part of themselves in. In the past I have worked for a production company as a concept art intern, animated a short film for a theater performance and an animation series for the museum depot Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam (2022-2025).
I'm always looking for cool collaborations (whether you are into image, film or sound) and currently available for work. Let's connect!
